Chocolate Brown Mulch

Chocolate brown mulch adds a rich, finished appearance to planting beds, trees and other landscaped areas. Its dark brown color creates contrast around flowers, shrubs and greenery while giving the landscape a clean and consistent look.

This medium-shred mulch is made locally from recycled clean green waste. The supplier processes the material without lumber pallets or treated wood. It is then colored with a water-soluble dye to produce its deep chocolate brown appearance.

Locally Recycled Mulch

The clean green waste used to produce this mulch is ground and allowed to begin breaking down before it is sold. Recycling this material creates a useful landscape product while keeping green waste out of the landfill.

Because this is a recycled organic material, the exact mixture, texture and amount of finer material can vary between loads. Color may also appear different depending on lighting, moisture and the age of the material.

Installation and Coverage

For a new landscape bed, install chocolate brown mulch approximately 3 to 4 inches deep. One cubic yard covers about 108 square feet at 3 inches deep or 81 square feet at 4 inches deep.

Existing mulch beds may only need a lighter top layer to restore their appearance. The color will gradually fade with sunlight, irrigation and weather, so replenish the mulch as needed.

Keep mulch a few inches away from tree trunks, shrub stems and building foundations. Avoid piling it directly against plants or creating deep mulch mounds around trees.
