Sunset Mesa flagstone is one of the most striking natural paving stones available, bringing the warm colors of the American Southwest into any landscape. Its rich tones come from naturally occurring iron oxides within the sandstone, creating hues that range from deep brick red to burnt orange, rust, copper, and subtle gold. It has a naturally split surface with a slightly textured, slip-resistant finish. It is perfect for Southwestern, desert, rustic, mountain, and natural landscape designs. The finished look feels warm, inviting, and timeless, especially in full sun where the stone’s natural color variation becomes even more vibrant.
Red sandstone flagstone pairs beautifully with:
- Black or charcoal decorative gravel for contrast.
- Sage, lavender, ornamental grasses, and desert plants.
- Weathered steel edging and natural boulders.
- Warm wood or cedar pergolas and fencing.

Recommendations:
1 ton pallet of 1-2″ flagstone covers approximately 100-120 square feet. This will be determined by how closely you place the stones as well as how many 1″ vs 2″ thick stones you have on a pallet.
This flagstone can be finicky and needs to have a stable base and leveling material for proper installation. If you are unsure which to use, please ask!
Flagstone is not 100% level so please overestimate the leveling base by 25% with whichever product you use.
