Blue Mountain flagstone is an irregular natural stone with a blue-grey hue, soft grey variation, and touches of silver. Its cool-toned color gives patios and walkways a distinctive look without requiring a rigid, uniform layout. The stones vary in shape and thickness, so each finished area has its own natural pattern. Outdoor Uses for Blue Mountain Flagstone

This stone is a good choice for outdoor patios, walkways, garden paths, stepping-stone areas, landings, and outdoor living spaces. The blue-grey tones can complement contemporary designs or provide a cool contrast to warmer wood, plants, and landscape rock. Unlike a cut dimensional pattern set, the pieces we sell have irregular edges and are arranged to suit the space. One-Ton Pallets and Coverage

Blue Mountain flagstone is sold in one-ton pallets (2,000 lb). With normal gaps between the stones, plan on approximately 100–120 square feet of coverage per pallet. Actual coverage depends on the thickness and shapes of the pieces, the size of the gaps, and how they are laid out. Full pallets are available for pickup or delivery. If you only need a few pieces, you can select them from an opened pallet for $0.42 per pound; individual pieces are available for pickup only.

Planning an Irregular Flagstone Installation

Most flagstone patios and walkways need a suitable sub-base and leveling layer. Because natural pieces do not all sit at the same height, the bedding layer may need adjustment as the stones are placed. Ask us about base materials if you are unsure what is appropriate for your site. When our crew plans an irregular flagstone project, we typically allow an additional 20–25% of leveling-base material to account for variations in the stone. The amount needed for a particular DIY project depends on its site conditions.
