Rustic Grey Flagstone for Patios and Walkways

Rustic Grey flagstone combines mid-to-light grey with tan and rust tones and flecks of gold that can sparkle in the light. It offers a balance between a grey-dominant stone and a warmer gold-and-tan stone. The irregular shapes and mix of colors suit patios, walkways, garden paths, stepping-stone layouts, and outdoor gathering areas.

Thickness and coverage

We stock the regular, non-washed 2″ minus patio stone. Individual pieces are generally about 1″–2″ thick, with natural variation in shape and face size. A full pallet weighs approximately 2,000 lb (1 ton).

For a layout with normal gaps, plan on roughly 100–120 square feet per one-ton pallet. This is an estimate, not guaranteed coverage. Stone thickness, the pieces selected, joint width, and how closely you fit the stones all affect how far a pallet goes. A closely fitted patio may use more stone than a path with wider spacing. If you have project measurements or a layout in mind, ask us to help estimate the quantity.

Buying Rustic Grey flagstone

A full one-ton pallet costs $435 and is available for pickup or delivery through Rock N Yard’s Landscape Center. If you only need a few stones, you can select pieces from an opened pallet at our yard. We weigh your selections and sell them for $0.28 per pound; individual-piece purchases are pickup only. Check your vehicle’s payload capacity before picking up a larger amount.

Preparing and installing irregular flagstone

Outdoor flagstone projects generally need suitable site preparation, a sub-base, and a leveling layer. Since individual stones vary in thickness, some need more leveling material beneath them to create an even finished walking surface. When estimating installation work with irregular flagstone, our crew generally allows about 20–25% more leveling-base material than it would for a uniform-thickness product. The appropriate base and finished depth depend on the site and intended use.

Rock N Yard’s Landscape Center handles pallet pickup, pallet delivery, and pickup-only purchases by the pound. Our separate Landscape Services team offers complete flagstone installations and installation in customer-prepared areas when the preparation is suitable. Delivery trucks stay on concrete or asphalt; we cannot drive them onto lawns or other yard surfaces. The photos on this page show the Rustic Grey flagstone we stock. Natural variation means the balance of grey, tan, rust, and visible gold flecks can differ among pieces. For comparison, Storm Mountain flagstone is the more grey-dominant option, while Autumn Gold flagstone is the warmer gold-and-tan option.
