Natural Mulch (organic) – Medium

Natural organic mulch provides practical ground coverage without added colorant. Its undyed wood tones blend into planting beds, wooded areas and informal landscapes while allowing the material to weather naturally over time.

This medium-shred mulch is made from clean wood material without lumber pallets or treated wood. It has the same general shred size as our colored mulches, but it retains its natural wood appearance instead of receiving a brown, black or red colorant.

Natural, Undyed Wood Mulch

Natural mulch is a good option for customers who want useful landscape coverage without maintaining a specific dyed color. Fresh material may contain a mixture of tan, brown and gray wood tones. These colors gradually change as the mulch is exposed to sunlight, moisture and weather.

Because this is an organic wood product, it slowly breaks down and contributes organic matter to the soil surface. However, this coarser mulch is intended primarily as a surface covering rather than something to mix directly into planting soil.

Product Size and Natural Variation

This medium mulch generally contains wood pieces approximately 2 to 3 inches in size. As a natural shredded product, it can also contain smaller fibers, finer material and occasional pieces outside the typical size range.

The exact mixture, texture and color will vary between loads. These variations are normal and contribute to the mulch’s natural appearance.

Installation and Coverage

Install Natural Mulch approximately 3 to 4 inches deep in new landscape beds. One cubic yard covers about 108 square feet at 3 inches deep or 81 square feet at 4 inches deep.

Existing mulch beds may only require a lighter top layer. Check the remaining depth before ordering and replenish the material as it settles and decomposes.

Keep mulch several inches away from tree trunks, shrub stems and building foundations. Do not pile it directly against plants or create deep mulch mounds around trees.
