Red Mulch

Red mulch adds bold, warm color to planting beds, trees and other landscaped areas. Its distinctive red tone creates contrast around green plants and can complement brick, natural stone and earth-tone landscape features.

This medium-shred mulch is made locally from recycled clean green waste. The supplier processes the material without lumber pallets or treated wood. A water-soluble colorant gives the mulch its consistent red appearance.

Bold Color for Decorative Landscapes

Red mulch can turn an ordinary planting bed into a noticeable landscape feature. Its warm color works especially well around evergreen shrubs, ornamental grasses and brightly colored flowers. It can also provide a defined border between planting areas, lawns and hardscape.

In addition to adding color, mulch protects the soil beneath it. A properly installed layer slows moisture loss, limits sunlight around emerging weeds and helps protect roots from rapid temperature changes.

Made from Locally Recycled Material

The clean green waste used to produce this mulch is ground and allowed to begin breaking down before it is sold. Recycling this material creates a useful landscaping product while keeping green waste out of the landfill.

Because Red Mulch is made from recycled organic material, its exact texture and the amount of finer material can vary between loads. Color may also appear different depending on moisture, lighting and the age of the material.

Installation and Coverage

Install Red Mulch approximately 3 to 4 inches deep in new landscape beds. One cubic yard covers about 108 square feet at 3 inches deep or 81 square feet at 4 inches deep.

Existing beds may only need a lighter top layer to restore their color. Sunlight, irrigation and weather will gradually fade the mulch, so add fresh material when needed.

Keep mulch several inches away from tree trunks, shrub stems and building foundations. Do not pile it directly against plants or create deep mulch mounds around trees.

Rock N Yard Landscape Center coordinates bulk delivery of Red Mulch throughout the Salt Lake Valley. This color is not available for customer pickup at our Copperton location.
