Twilight Gravel – 1/2″

Twilight 1/2-inch gravel is a small, fully fractured landscape rock with a medium-to-dark gray and blue-gray base. It also contains varying amounts of tan, brown, red, orange and pink stone. The proportions of these secondary colors change naturally between quarry loads. Some loads have an even blend of colors, while others appear predominantly gray.

This material consists of relatively consistent 1/2-inch rock. It does not contain a meaningful range of smaller stone sizes. Its fractured, angular shape gives it a more structured appearance than naturally rounded pebbles.

Twilight 1/2-Inch Gravel Characteristics

• Relatively consistent 1/2-inch rock

• Unwashed material with variable crusher fines
• Medium-to-dark gray and blue-gray base color
• Variable tan, brown, red, orange and pink accents
• Suitable for decorative areas and coarse informal paths

The crusher fines may coat the rock and make a fresh delivery appear lighter or whiter than expected. The amount of surface dust varies between loads. As the material settles and the dust washes away, more of the underlying colors may become visible.

Recommended Uses for Twilight 1/2-Inch Gravel

The smaller size makes this gravel useful in decorative areas where a finer rock appearance is preferred. It can also provide more complete coverage around plants and landscape features than larger gravel.

• Park strips and waterwise landscapes
• Around shrubs, trees and other plantings
• Decorative borders and side yards
• Between stepping stones or larger landscape features
• Coarse, informal garden paths

We do not recommend this material for driveways, RV pads or parking areas. The rock is too small to create the more stable driving surface provided by larger fractured gravel over a suitable base.

Using Twilight 1/2-Inch Gravel for Paths

Twilight 1/2-inch gravel can create a smaller, coarse informal pathway. However, it does not contain the same range of fine material as pathway chat. Therefore, it will not compact as firmly or create the same smooth finished surface.

Installing Twilight 1/2-Inch Gravel

Install this gravel at a minimum depth of 2 inches. We recommend approximately 3 inches for better long-term coverage in landscape beds, park strips and other decorative areas.

Actual coverage will depend on grading, surface conditions and the natural shape of the rock. A deeper installation can help prevent the ground or landscape fabric from becoming visible as the material settles or shifts.

The Twilight color family is also available as Twilight Gravel – 3/4″ Minus, Twilight Gravel – 1.5″, Twilight Cobble – 2″ to 4″ and Twilight Pathway Chat – 3/8″ Minus.

These products share the same general color family. However, the amount of gray and each secondary color may differ between sizes and quarry loads.

Delivery and Installation

Twilight Gravel – 1/2″ is available for delivery only with a five-cubic-yard minimum. It is not currently available for pickup. Rock N Yard sells this material by the cubic yard. The equivalent ton price is displayed for comparison because one cubic yard weighs approximately 1.25 tons.
