OMRI Listed Organic Compost

Our OMRI Listed Organic Compost is a premium, purpose-blended soil amendment made from composted fir and pine bark, composted manure and straw, and black reed sedge peat moss. This is not landfill compost. The ingredients are blended and screened to create a consistent 3/8-inch minus product for gardens, flower beds, lawns and other landscape applications.

Compost adds organic material to depleted soil and can help improve soil structure, moisture retention and overall growing conditions. This makes it especially useful for improving the dense native clay soil commonly found throughout the Salt Lake Valley.

Recommended Uses

• Amending existing garden and flower bed soil
• Preparing soil for vegetables, flowers and other plants
• Improving soil before installing sod
• Lightly top-dressing lawns and planting areas
• Adding organic material to container and potting soil mixes
• Mixing into soil for raised garden boxes
• General soil preparation and landscape restoration

For the best results, mix the compost with existing soil before planting. It can also be spread in a light, even layer as a top dressing when you want to add organic material without replacing the existing soil.

Compost or Ready-to-Plant Garden Soil?

This compost is designed primarily as a soil amendment rather than a standalone planting soil. Use it when you want to improve existing soil by adding organic material.

The Organic Materials Review Institute, commonly known as OMRI, independently reviews agricultural input products against organic standards. An OMRI Listed product has been reviewed for use in organic production in accordance with its listing requirements.
