Twilight Cobble is a fully fractured decorative rock available in a consistent 2-inch to 4-inch size range. It has a medium-to-dark gray and blue-gray base with varying amounts of tan, brown, red, orange and pink stone. The proportions of these secondary colors change naturally between quarry loads. Some loads have an even blend of colors, while others appear predominantly gray.
This cobble is consistently within the 2-inch to 4-inch size range. Occasional smaller pieces may be present, but they do not make up a significant portion of the material. Its angular, fractured shape creates a bold and textured appearance in larger landscape areas.
Twilight Cobble Characteristics
- Consistent 2-inch to 4-inch size range
- Fully fractured rock with angular edges
- Unwashed material with variable crusher fines
- Medium-to-dark gray and blue-gray base color
- Variable tan, brown, red, orange and pink accents
- Suitable for larger decorative landscape applications
The crusher fines may coat the cobble and make a fresh delivery appear lighter or whiter than expected. The amount of surface dust varies between loads. As the material settles and the dust washes away, more of the underlying colors may become visible.
Recommended Uses for Twilight Cobble 2-4 Inch
Twilight Cobble – 2″ to 4″ works well anywhere a larger decorative landscaping rock is desired. Its size and angular shape create a stronger visual accent than smaller landscape gravel.
- Landscape and flower beds
- Park strips and waterwise landscapes
- Dry creek beds and drainage swales
- Decorative drainage areas
- Landscape borders and transition areas
- Around trees, shrubs and larger plantings
- Slopes and erosion-control areas
- Areas surrounding boulders or other landscape features
This large, angular cobble is not intended for pathways or regular walking areas. The individual pieces are too large and uneven to provide a comfortable or stable walking surface.
Installing Twilight Cobble 2-4 Inch
Install this cobble at a minimum depth of 5 inches. Although some pieces may reach approximately 4 inches, the smaller pieces help fill spaces between the larger rock. A 5-inch planned depth provides good coverage without requiring the full depth of two complete 4-inch layers.
Actual coverage will depend on grading, surface conditions and the natural shape of the rock. Larger cobble may require some hand placement near borders, plants and other landscape features.
Other Twilight Rock Sizes
The Twilight color family is also available as Twilight Gravel – 1/2″, Twilight Gravel – 3/4″ Minus, Twilight Gravel – 1.5″ and Twilight Pathway Chat – 3/8″ Minus.
These products share the same general color family. However, the amount of gray and each secondary color may differ between sizes and loads. We recommend viewing the current material when an exact color blend is important.
