Desperado Trail Gravel – 1.5″

The Desperado Trail Gravel 1.5 inch product is an unwashed, crushed landscape rock with a natural blend of tan, cream and gray. Some loads also contain rust and gold tones. These colors create a warm, varied appearance that works well in Utah landscapes.

This is a fractured gravel, but it is not a minus product. Most pieces are approximately 1″ to 1.5″ in size. The material does not contain the deliberately graded smaller particles found in minus gravel or pathway chat. Normal crushing fines may still be present.

Choosing the 1.5″ Size

The 1.5″ size creates a bolder texture than smaller Desperado Trail Gravel. It provides good visual coverage in open landscape areas and works especially well where a larger rock is preferred.

Because this product does not contain a graded mixture of smaller particles, it will not compact as tightly as a minus gravel. When used for a driveway or parking area, it generally works best as the visible gravel surface over a properly prepared and compacted base. The required preparation and depth depend on the existing soil, drainage and intended traffic.

Installing Desperado Trail Gravel 1.5 Inch

Install this gravel at least 3″ deep for adequate decorative coverage. Clear and grade the area before installation so the finished surface follows the drainage and appearance you want. Landscape fabric may help separate the gravel from the soil in appropriate decorative applications.

Edge containment can help keep larger gravel within the intended area. Additional excavation, base preparation or material depth may be needed for driveways, parking areas and locations with soft or unstable soil.

What to Expect from Unwashed Gravel

Because this gravel is unwashed, it may look dusty when first delivered. Normal crushing fines can occur throughout the material or in pockets that are difficult to see during loading. Rain or light rinsing will settle the dust and make the natural colors more visible.

Desperado Trail Gravel is a natural quarry material. Color, texture and particle distribution can vary between loads. We recommend viewing the current material in person when matching an existing project is important.

Pickup, Delivery and Installation

Bulk Desperado Trail Gravel 1.5 inch material is available from the Rock N Yard Landscape Center for pickup or delivery throughout the Salt Lake Valley. Delivery trucks require an accessible concrete or asphalt surface for the material drop.

Rock N Yard Landscape Services can also provide gravel delivery and installation. Complete site preparation is available for projects that require excavation, grading, fabric, edging or other preparation before installing the gravel.
